TEACHING

UNIVERSITY TEACHING

Edward convenes a module called 'Responding Mindfully to Challenging Behaviour' at the Centre for Research in Human Flourishing, University of Nottingham, which is available on several Masters programs. This unique module integrates mindfulness practice and conflict resolution skills with theoretical material challenging the dominance of behaviourist thinking on contemporary classroom/relationship management. The module includes multiple experiential and contemplative activities. Reflections on teaching this module feature prominently in a chapter in Oren Ergas and Jason Ritter’s recently-published book, Exploring Self Toward Expanding Teaching, Teacher Education and Practitioner Research.  Edward also contributes to the MA Trauma Informed Practice, offering lectures and workshops on TRE®, Mindfulness, Breathwork and Psycholytic Therapy.

Edward also supervises PhD students investigating the following areas: contemplation/mindfulness, consciousness and education; integral and transpersonal theory, science and nonduality;  creativity and integration of peak-experiences, journaling and arts-based research methods; peace education, conflict resolution, restorative approaches in school; mental well-being and human flourishing. Edward researches and publishes on all of these topics.

Edward is also a trained mindfulness teacher, breathwork & TRE® facilitator and sound-healer.

It will include a variety of body/mind practices, including Tension Release Exercises (TRE), breathwork and sound-healing.
